This is my first post on my blog and I am going to start with an injury update. You may know that I had knee surgery (keyhole) on my left knee just over 6 weeks ago to remove a loose bit of cartilage and try to fix the hole from which it came from. I have been on crutches for 6 weeks took my first steps yesterday and my leg felt like rubber, so that kinda sucked. However today it was much better because it had become more used to baring weight so I ditched my crutches, meaning that I actually had use of my hands ''it's a miracle''! This relived many family members from constantly having to carry things and generally help me out, so that's good.
Anyway my physio has given me a plan of stuff to do in the gym to aid the recovery of the cartilage and rebuild the wasted muscle in my left leg. So I will keep at that, I did it today and it felt stronger after just 1 session. Although I think the real reason I felt so much better afterwards was because I was allowed to take some shots on the basketball court, something I have dearly missed.. . . and guess what. . . .I still got it! Aha. In the meantime will keep going at the rehab until I am stronger than I have ever been. Then it's game time baby!
On to more exciting news. . . It's now only 5 days until I leave England to start my Freshman year at Adams State College in Colorado, USA!! I can't wait! Although I still have the colossal job of packing up my life and almost everything I own in to two rather large suitcases, so I am pretty psyched for that! :) This week I will say my goodbyes to all my family and friends and set out on my adventure of getting my degree, progressing my basketball talents, experiencing college life and living in another country. I am going to be studding Human Performance & Physical Education (HPPE for short) I decided to do this because it's what I am in to and it's what I know. You all probably know that the main reason for me going to America instead of an English University is because the basketball opportunities out there are much greater and the level of competition is much higher, in order to achieve my basketball goals I feel it is the place to be. Once my knee is game ready (2-3 months) I will be back in action and training harder than ever, along with doing everything I can do to achieve success both on the court and off.
No matter how much I wanted this I couldn't have done it alone, I am very grateful to everyone who is helping me on the way to achieve my dream. Thank you
I will keep you posted on everything that goes on. Catch ya Later
