Colorado & College!!

I have now arrived at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. I have to tell you that it's absolutely freaking baking  up here, the temperature has been around the 90 degrees F (that's what they use in America) I am used to using Celsius, so it's been about 32 degrees for the past few days. So I will give you a brief breakdown of what happened this week. Well since last Saturday we have pretty much just been doing menial things like getting supplies, equipment and furniture to make sure that my college dorm room was sufficiently equipped. However on Tuesday of last week Curt, Robyn & Heather (My Adopted American family) took us on an amazing tour of colorado which included some spectacular back roads that only locals know about. Then we ended up at an Old gold mining town called Cripple Creek which still had tours down in to the original mines that were 1000 ft underground so we had to cram in these tiny cages and get lowered down, it took aprox 90 secs to get down to the mines. The mines were so cool but I wasn't allowed to take pictures down there so y'all can't see how incredible it was; just take my word for it.
The next day (Wednesday) we decided that we would go to the top of Pikes Peak which I believe is the only mountain in Colorado that you can drive right to the top of. When you reach the top of the mountain the perspective of the landscape is out of this world! I have pictures of this on Facebook. But I couldn't really capture what it was truly like through a lens. There is a picture below, taken by my mum.
Yeah so those two days were epic! I have to tell you though that in that picture it looks nice and warm. It wasn't we were at 14,110 ft the temperature was only just above freezing. But I was man enough to not wear a coat!
On the Wednesday night we were getting ready to take me to college this meant packing all the stuff I now owned in to the back of a 4x4. I did not see how this could happen as there was a fridge and microwave as well as 2 cases and everything else! I am pretty sure that Curt is some sort of magician because he managed to get it all to fit! the next morning we woke up at about 4:30 am as it was a 3+ hour drive to Alamosa from Colorado Springs. I don't remember much about the journey except that the views along the highways we took were pretty special, mountain after mountain. We arrived at the college around 8:30ish, checked in, then we moved my stuff into my college room which admittedly felt like a jail cell when I first stepped foot in to it! :/
This changed as I started to surround myself with my own belongings and other things. I then went to register for classes, they have some that are compulsory for you to take for example I am taking Social Imagination, Algebra, English and Development of Civilization. None of these I would really choose to do, I expect they will be fun none the less. The only class I chose is 'Intro to Human Performance' so that should be good as it's what I am in to. To be honest I am looking forward to my classes that start on Monday.
There is still no sign of my roommate, Gerald Huff, I expect he will turn up in the next few days. All in all I think college is going to be great, I have already met with my Basketball coach and the Athletic training staff (the guys who will fix my knee). So all looks like it will be good. I will update again next Saturday after my first week of classes. Wish me luck. :D
